An anti-inflammatory tea to soothe aches

A few days ago, I had a bit of a clumsy moment—I missed the kitchen counter and took a minor fall. While nothing was seriously injured, I definitely pulled a muscle in my back (how exactly, I have no idea!). Since then, I've been applying arnica to reduce the discomfort, but I could still feel the inflammation lingering in my back muscles.

That’s when I decided to turn to one of my favorite remedies: a homemade anti-inflammatory tea using ingredients I already had on hand. Aside from my trusty collection of healing spices, I had a Tangelo—a citrusy hybrid between an orange and a mandarin. I had originally bought it for another recipe, but it turned out to be just what I needed.

This tea is simple, effective, and surprisingly delicious. It's packed with ingredients known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, making it a perfect natural remedy for sore muscles and general aches.

Lemongrass contains a substance that help reduce swelling and muscle pain.

Ingredients

  • 1 sprig of rosemary – known for its ability to relieve muscle pain

  • 2 stalks of lemongrass – trim the ends and remove the tough outer layers; make a few shallow cuts to release the juices

  • 1 Tangelo – slice it and squeeze a portion of the juice directly into the pot

  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon – a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant

  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric – one of nature’s most potent anti-inflammatory spices

  • 4 cups of water (or more if you prefer a milder taste)

Directions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a small, deep pot.

  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.

  3. Strain if desired and serve warm.

The natural sweetness of the Tangelo and the warmth of the spices usually make this tea sweet enough on its own, but feel free to add a little honey if you’d like an extra soothing touch.

This easy anti-inflammatory tea is a comforting, feel-good drink that supports your body’s natural healing process. Give it a try and let us know what you think—we’d love to hear how it works for you!
