Why it is better to Ingest your Beauty

It turns out it’s a good decision to “follow your gut”. In fact, as a growing number of research suggests, your gut has a “brain” of its own where most of our emotions are stored and manifest. Having “butterflies” in your stomach, for example, is how feelings externalize in what is dubbed as the “second brain”, the enteric nervous system (ENS).

By actually ingesting rather than just applying vitamins, like Vitamin C for example, you can get more benefits for your skin.

The ENS controls your digestion and with that also what gets released in your bloodstream, what gets absorbed and what gets eliminated. So in a way, your gut has an even bigger brain (100 million nerve cells) than the one you have in your skull and can affect many things from the way your skin looks, to your sleep patterns, to the way your hormones roll and with all that your mood. In fact, research has found that irritation in your gastrointestinal (GI) tract sends a signal to the central nervous system that causes significant mood changes.

That’s why, as much as it is important to keep your skin hydrated and healthy by way of using clean topicals, it is perhaps even more important to choose what goes inside your body and passes through your gut.

What we call “diet” - which should be our eating mindset - should include all foods that are truly good for you not only because they will impact your skin, but because they will also have a tremendous impact on how well you sleep, your mood, your hormones, and above all your mind.

It’s pretty clear to most that eating more vegetables and fruits will help us keep our waist svelte, but what is even more important (and perhaps less talked about) is how healthy eating habits affect the way we think about ourselves and the energy we radiate as a result of that.

So yes, ingesting our vitamins provide us with that extra (and much needed) kick of powerful adaptogens (i.e. ashwagandha) amino acids (collagen), antioxidants (maqui), and other essential elements, that can help us treat deep-rooted dermatological issues, caused for instance by hormonal imbalances, which may result in skin inflammation, flare ups, but also help us sleep better, be more relaxed and focused, and put us in a good mood which in turn will manifest in smooth and radiant skin.

Try and let us know what you think!
